Reconstitution of Personnel Selection Board (PSB)
Chancellor Sali on May 2, 2017 has released a special order reconstituting the members of the Personnel Selection Board (PSB) for TCTO. The PSB is composed of Prof. Abdulgim Hassan, a senior faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences as the Chairman; Mr. Sawadjaan Jaji, the director for Office of General Administration, the vice chairman; Ms. Scheresaida Abdula, the chief of the Human Resource Management Office as secretary; Dr. Elvinia Alivio, Mr. Michael Tawasil, Mr. Abdulpatta Nuruddin and Mr. Gerwin Tupas as members.
The mentioned officers and members are tasked to deliberate standard procedures and processes prescribed by the Civil Service Commission and the MSU Board of Regents on hiring and promotion of administrative personnel.
The officers and members shall serve for a period of two years.
The Office of Research Held the 1st Lecture Series on Papers Presented in International Conference
May 18, 2017 – The office of Research hosted the 1st Lecture Series for 2017 on Papers Presented in International Conference at the Conference Room of the Sabdani J. Bulante Hall. The said event aimed to facilitate local dissemination of the papers presented by MSU-TCTO Faculty/Researchers in various prestigious international conferences in and out of the country for the benefit of MSU-TCTO constituents (Faculty members, students, and other researchers).
Two sets of presentations were held in the morning. On fisheries, Dr. Richard Muallil, the Director for Research talked on “Trophic relationship between herbivorous fish biomass and bentic algal cover on Philippine coral reefs.”
On Mathematics, Prof. Abdurajan Lintasan presented his paper entitled, “Uncertainty principles in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces.” Prof. Rosalio Artes followed with his papers “Bernstein-Szego inequality on Dirichlet space” and “Geometric properties of square multillatices.”
In the afternoon, the topics were on culture and education. Dr. Forma Gonzales presented her paper “An exploratory study of the lunsay of the Jama Mapun from a Socio-Cultural linguistics perspective.” Dr. Muktar Mohammad Tahil followed with his paper entitled, “Aruy: A study of Sama agony.” Another research presentation on culture was ‘The belief of the tausug in lutao as reflected in their kata-kata” by Mr. Jeffrey Rajik.
On Education, Prof. Fernigil Colicol presented his paper “The 21st Century Milieu: Learning preferences of MSU-TCTO sophomore students.” Dr. Wilham Hailaya talked on the “Assessment literacy of basic education teachers in the province of Tawi-Tawi.” And Dr. Elvinia Alivio presented her paper “Language learning anxieties and communication skills among the freshmen of Western Mindanao State University.
An open forum followed after each presentation.
The said lecture series ended with a photo opt with the speakers, research director and the TCTO Chancellor.
