  • Creation of the Web Team

    In compliance with the national government’s requirement for line agencies to maintain a website in support for transparency management, Chancellor Sali released the Special Order 202 series of 2017. The SO entails the creation of Web Team to implement a Universal Resource Locator (URL), with the address http://www.msutawi-tawi.edu.ph to be managed by the Information and Communications Technology Center (ICTC). The Web Team has three sub-teams: Content Team, in control of the website’s contents and its weekly update; Graphic Design Team, in charge of the graphical lay-out/design and the analysis for website’s maintenance; and Technical Team, responsible for the site’s database management, data security and protection and other technical aspects of the website’s maintenance.   • Seven TCTO English Professors Trained Female Marines

    May 26, 2017 – Seven faculty members from the language department extended their services to the Female Marines of the Province of Tawi-Tawi thru facilitation on the lectures of Public Speaking and Technical Writing during the English Language Communication Skills Enhancement Seminar-Workshop. The 2nd Marine Brigade collaborated MSU-TCTO in the conduct of the seminar-workshop, which was held at the Sandbar Lepa in Barangay Pasiagan, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi on May 21-26, 2017. The said seminar-workshop aimed to hone the administrative and technical skills of the female marines; equip and develop appropriate language skills in order to meet standards of world class Armed Forces; and enhance their basic communication skills.     Mindanao State University- Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography co-hosted the Sama Summit organized by the Tumpukan Bangsa Sama, Inc. (TBS, Inc.) in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). With the theme, “Sama Empowerment Through Peace and Development: A Raodmap to Federalism,” the Summit helped push the cognizance and involvement of the Sama in the province in peace process and development.   • MSU-TCTO creates the PMT for SPMS

    Civil Service Commission’s   Memorandum Circular No.  6, Series     of     2012     mandates     the     establishment     and implementation      of      Agency      Strategic      Performance Management System (SPMS) in all constitutional bodies, departments, bureaus    and    agencies    of    the    national government; local government units; government-owned and/or    controlled    corporations (GOCCs) with    original charter; and   state   universities   and   colleges.   Thus, the Chancellor, Dr. Mary Joyce Z.     To have a data center for better and smooth transactions, MSU-TCTO established the Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO). The Office was officially launched on October 19, 2017 ICTO was created to provide the primary management and support of MSU-TCTO Data Center. It manages the data network infrastructures, central service provisions such as website, email, video conferencing system, total security systems, internet, bandwidth optimization and business automations. It is in line with the government’s thrust on ICT and the use of government’s advanced technology. It shall also adhere to the open data initiative of the government and anticipate the other systems to be developed under the Information Systems Strategic Planning (ISSP) and Medium- Term ICT Harmonization Initiative (MITHI).   • COEd conducts a review program for LET 2018

    In preparation for this year’s Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), the College of Education (COEd) holds an intensive review program exclusive for COEd regular students and professional education unit earners only. The review starts in January and will end in May 2018 every weekend. The years 2016 and 2017 marked a milestone in the College of Education’s existence. The breakthroughs in both elementary and secondary levels for first timers in the LET have shown that all efforts of the mentors and the support of the administration were worthwhile. MSU-TCTO recorded 51.02% passing percentage for secondary level first timers in September 2017, a significant increase compared to March 2017’s 18.18%. This is by far the highest rating for first timers in the secondary level which is also considered a new record for the College following the previous year’s highest record for the elementary level first timers.   • Eight TCTO students pass the 2017 DOST-SEI JLSS exam

    The list of qualifiers for 2017 Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute – Junior Level Science Scholarship (DOST-SEI JLSS) Examination, which was held last November 2017, was officially released on Sunday, December 31, 2017. Out of 6, 049 takers, 4,529 passed the 2017 JLSS examination. The takers were third year college students who were enrolled in various Science and Technology courses. Among the passers are MSU-TCTO students, namely; Shermahal L. Hairal, Venissa A. Sualli, Shanjid G. Abduhalim, Mary Rose T. Gandilan, Nur Shafiqah S. Abdul Said, Arkady A. Tahil, Hermalyn T.     In the Special Order 185 series of 2017, Chancellor Sali has created new Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) that will ensure transparency, accountability and economy in the procurement  of goods, supplies, materials, related services and infrastructure projects.
