• The MSU-TCTO Fifth Chancellor

    In accordance with section 6 of Republic Act No. 8292, otherwise known as the “Higher Education Modernization Act of 1997”, including Sections 21, 25, and 27 of its Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations, and by virtue of Resolution No. 95, Series of 2017 passed on March 27, 2017 by the Mindanao State University Board of Regents, Dr. Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali has been appointed as chancellor of Mindanao State University – Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography. Dr. Sali, former secretary of the MSU System and of the BOR for four years and ten months, replaced the designated Officer-in-charge, MSU System Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Alma E. Berowa. Dr. Sali finished Bachelor of Science in Forestry at the Mindanao State University – Marawi City in 1993, Magna Cum Laude.   • US Embassy Deputy Chief Visits TCTO

    On May 10, 2017 Deputy Chief of Mission of the United States Embassy Sir Michael Klecheski with his entourage: Sir Marc Jackson, Lt. Col. Mark Broekhuizen, Lt. Col. Mike Rasinski, Sir Ryan Smith and Ms. Molly Koscina visited the Scholars of the English Access Microscholarship Program in the campus. Prof. Magsaysay Werble, the OIC-Chancellor with the other executives of the university together with the Access Teachers welcomed Sir Klecheski and expressed gratitude for the embassy’s support to TCTO in the form of scholarship of which 50 high school and college students have benifitted from the said program, and the materials which are archived in the university-based American Corner.   • TCTO’s new process of enrollment is made easier

    For decades, the process of enrollment has always been an issue to the students. Every semester, students complain because they have to wait for two to three days before their subjects are encoded. Registration would take at least a month to complete. This second semester A.Y 2017-2018, the administration has come up with a new process of enrollment. It is a hassle-free, a self-service/self-encoding process. And students will no longer have to queue at the Accounting Office and Cashiering Office. The new process has the following procedures: first, the adviser reviews previous semester’s grades as stored in the enrolment system; cross-checks the subjects already taken viz -a-viz the required curricula of the student, regular students or those who do not have deficiencies may choose directly the subjects to take as indicated in the prospectus, but those students with deficiencies have to go to the adviser for advising of subjects; second, students choose their preferred schedules based...
  • TCTO launches Sentro ng Wika at Kultura

    Sentro ng Wika at Kultura, headed by Dr. Forma Gonzales, is a satellite office of the Komisyon ng Wikang Pambansa. Its objectives are to safeguard, preserve and promote all languages and dialects in Tawi-Tawi. The approval of this office was signed on October 9, 2017 at the Komisyon ng Wikang Pambansa Office by MSU-TCTO Chancellor, Dr. Mary Joyce Guinto-Sali; Commissioner of Wikang Pambansa, Dr. Virgilio Almaro; and Assistant Commissioner, Dr. Purificacion Delima, and the other Commissioners of the Komisyon ng Wikang Pambansa. The Sentro ng Wika at Kultura was officially launched on January 22, 2018.  The ribbon cutting was done by Prof. Benecito Maratas, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Hon. Jimuel Que, Mayor of the municipality of Bongao; and Prof. Hja.
